The impact of low-speed filtration on the performance of salt water chlorinators, pool cleaners, and the pool water quality, based on experimental and modelled data, is investigated. Results show that a typical salt water chlorinator and pressure pool cleaner do not work well for flow rates of less than 1 litre s -1 and 1.3 litre s -1 respectively.

The effect of ‘cool’ roofs on heat transfer through the roof structure has been investigated by many researchers.

Dutch cyclists rode down the world's first bike path made entirely of discarded plastic this week, in a move aimed at reducing the millions of tonnes wasted every year. The 30-metre (100-ft) cycling path in the 1,300-year-old northern town of Zwolle contains the equivalent of 500,000 plastic bottle caps and is estimated to be two to three times more durable than traditional roads.

To increase levels of biking while improving safety, cities around the world have started building barrier-protected bicycle-exclusive cycle tracks between the sidewalk and the street. With cycle tracks, the unanswered urban planning issues include whether and where to plant street trees and, if planted, whether the trees in that location provide associated benefits.
