The content of these slides was to identify, prioritise and quantify these policy options for interventions to rapidly increase energy efficiency during the change of government and the incoming government. The purpose is to teach emerging professionals in the emerging economies about building energy efficiency policies that can be used to reduce energy use in buildings.

Evidence gathered by the International Energy Agency has identified six critical factors to guide policy makers in realising potential savings in both new and existing buildings through the modernisation of building energy codes.

Briefing paper
23 Feb 2017

This study is aimed at improving the safety, comfort, productivity and energy efficiency of enterprise buildings in remote communities. Two building types, besser block and steel frame, were investigated in both hot arid and hot humid climate zones of northern Australia.

This paper explains a developed tool that contributes in automation of building energy simulation and providing outputs by using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and modified source code of energy simulation tools. Results showed similar findings indicating the functionality of Automated Building Energy Modeling and Assessment Tool in providing fine-grained outputs.

A significant body of research confirms the major contribution that improved building performance can make to national energy and greenhouse abatement policies. The challenge facing governments is how best to realize the potential of energy efficient buildings.

Conference paper
12 Aug 2019

This guide provides methods for retrofitting commercial buildings to improve performance while reducing energy and carbon use.

Energy efficiency delivers energy savings and therefore energy cost savings, as well as direct environmental benefits. Besides, as an indirect effect, it has smaller or larger consequences on other economic values.

Policy report
06 Jan 2018

This paper explores potential future implications of climate change on building energy expenditures around the globe. Increasing expenditures result from increased electricity use for cooling, and are offset to varying degrees, depending on the region, by decreased energy consumption for heating.

Energy is a complicated topic, and energy performance can also be challenging to determine. This book is about understanding and shaping energy performance of an entire economic sector, using the residential sector as the example, although not at a detailed level. The historical record of attempts to reduce energy use or carbon emissions of countries and the world is primarily one of failure.
