Towards zero carbon: visions and pathways 2040

03 Jul 2019

More than 50% of the world live in cities that in turn create the causes of climate change. Major transformation is required for change.

The Visions and Pathways 2040 project led by Prof. Chris Ryan from the University of Melbourne is an exploration and investigation of what transformation means for Australian Cities. Informed by a review of leading global and Australian cities, as well as global and national emissions reductions targets required to avoid catastrophic climate change, the project has explored greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets of 80% by 2040—a solid trajectory towards carbon neutrality by 2050.
