Precinct Information Modelling (PIM) describes the process of creating a virtual 3D model at precinct scale, defined as a special region in built environment. PIM contains all the information pertinent the given precinct held in different data type and supports the process of management and analysis.

As public transport agencies increasingly adopt the use of automatic data collection systems, a significant amount of boarding data becomes available, providing an excellent opportunity for transit planners to access spatial-temporal data which can be used for a better understanding of human mobility and the performance of a transit system. Smartcard data can be used to examine a whole network regularly, and to make practical estimates of passenger origin-destination (OD) patterns and is a great asset in understanding public transport reliability issues.

It summarises the goals and organisation of that work and then outlines the contribution to be made by PIM. Importantly, while the PIM project contribution to the ETWW project has come after the initial work is complete, there is an opportunity to tightly integrate a PIM-based solution into the workflow of the UHI project.

In September 2017, the Department of the Environment and Energy commissioned Blue Environment and sub-consultants to manage its waste data and reporting needs until 2019. An early project requirement was to research and propose improvements to the previous versions of the core waste reports, particularly the national waste report. The work program to explore potential areas for improvement involved consultations with the states and territories, industry and community, as well as various reviews and research projects. An initial version of this report proposed a series of changes.

Australia’s cities face significant social, economic and environmental challenges, driven by population growth and rapid urbanisation. The pressure to increase housing availability will lead to greater levels of high-density and medium-density stock. However, there is enormous political and community pushback against this. One way to address this challenge is to encourage medium-density living solutions through “precinct” scale development.

Understanding the flows of people moving through the built environment is a vital source of information for the planners and policy makers who shape our cities. Smart phone applications enable people to trace themselves through the city and these data can potentially be then aggregated and visualised to show hot spots and trajectories of macro urban movement. In this paper we present some preliminary findings using cycle data collected from a smart phone application known as RiderLog.
