This paper analyzes the observed highest temperatures that occur every year at nearly 9000 stations, and how they are changing over time and especially over the past 50 and 30 years. This research found these short-term heatwaves to be increasing in most places, especially Eurasia and Australia, and also in megacities.

Opportunities for the beneficial re-use of biosolids are limited by nuisance odour emissions. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from anaerobically stabilised biosolids were measured to identify compounds that could contribute to the overall odour character of nuisance emissions. Flux hood sampling and chemical analysis were used to identify VOCs emitted from biosolids as they were stored in ambient conditions. Compounds emitted varied as the biosolid cakes were stored for a period of 50 days.

It was found that odour impact was determined by a small number of factors including distance, odour legislation, and odour annoyance.
Factors such as odour frequency also play a role in determining odour impact.
